The Vaal River Eastern Sub-System Augmentation Project (VRESAP) is being implemented to meet the growing water demands of primarily Eskom and Sasol. The proposed scheme will transfer water from the Vaal Dam to the Knoppiesfontein.

The Project components include 115 km of 1900mm nominal diameter (sub-surface) steel pipeline and 6km of 1200mm nominal diameter ( sub-surface) steel pipeline to Bosjesspruit Dam. This equates to 65 000 tons of steel required to manufacture the pipe at a value of R 600 million.

RARE, because of its reputation and relationship with the major mills and manufacturers, partnered both Hall Longmore and Group 5 on the manufacturing, delivering and stacking on site of the pipe. All RARE divisions are collaborating on this project in the logistical and project management aspects of the supply of pipe.
